Commission approves and adopts a set of five unopposed settlement stipulations.

The commission received a Multiparty Settlement regarding Electric Rate Spread and Electric Rate Design on August 12, 2008, a Partial Settlement regarding Natural Gas Rate Spread and Rate Design on August 18, a Multiparty Settlement regarding Emergency Response and Storm Preparedness on August 19, a Partial Settlement regarding Service Quality, Meter and Billing Performance, and Low Income Bill Assistance on August 20, and a Partial Settlement regarding Electric and Natural Gas Revenue Requirements on August 22. Only issues concerning the Power Cost Only Rate Case (PCORC) mechanism remain contested at this time.

The commission held a hearing to consider the proposed settlements on September 3, 2008, at 9:30 a.m., at UTC headquarters.

On October 8, 2008, the commission entered Order 12, and approves and adopts a set of five unopposed settlement stipulations filed by the parties to this general rate case that together resolve the question of what rates customers will pay on a prospective basis beginning November 1, 2008, for electric and natural gas service provided by Puget Sound Energy. In the Order, the commission finds reasonable the parties' agreed $130,179,688 addition to the Company's electric revenue requirement, a 7.09 percent increase over what is currently recovered in rates, and the parties' agreed $49,212,697 addition to the Company's natural gas revenue requirement, a 4.60 percent increase over what is currently recovered in rates. The commission will determine by separate order certain contested policy issues related to power cost recovery. (Docket 072300, see "Documents" at the bottom of this page for more information).
