Commission adopts electricity standards under 2005 Energy Policy Act

The commission has amended and adopted rules in WAC 480-108 that requires electrical companies under the commission's jurisdiction to offer interconnection service for customer-owned generation facilities up to a generation capacity of 20 megawatts and specify the terms, conditions and qualifications governing such service. The commission filed its Adoption Order and rules withe the Code Reviser on September 27, 2007. The rules will go into effect on October 28, 2007. The commission's comment discussion memoranda and staff memorandum presented at the adoption hearing are available for inspection.

The Commission filed a Proposed Rulemaking (CR-102) with the Code Reviser's Office on July 5, 2007, addressing interconnection of consumer-owned electric generators with a nameplate generating capacity of up to 20 megawatts to the electric delivery systems of electric companies over which the Commission has jurisdiction. The Commission invites written comments on the proposed rule amendments by August 2, 2007. The Commission has set an adoption hearing for Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. at UTC headquarters in Olympia.

The Commission entered an Interpretive and Policy Statement Regarding Energy Policy Act of 2005 Standards for Net-Metering, Fuel Sources, Fossil Fuel Generation Efficiency and Time-Based Metering on August 23, 2007. (Docket UE-060649, see "Documents" link below for more information).)
