UTC considers rules to govern telecommunications service (line) extensions.

The Commission filed a Proposed Rulemaking (CR-102) with the Code Reviser's Office on May 7, 2008, on final draft rules to WAC 480-120-071, Extension of service, relating to requirements for extension of service to customers within a company's service territory, and WAC 480-120-103, Applicaiton of service, relating to requirements the applicant and the company must meet for a service application. The Commission invites written comments on the proposed rules by June 6, 2008. The Commission has set an adoption hearing for Thurs., June 26, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at UTC headquarters in Olympia. (Docket UT-073014, see "Documents" link below for more information)

The proposed rules would allow an applicant an extension of up to 1000 feet at no charge and would require the applicant to bear the cost of extending plant beyond 1000 feet. In addition, the terminating access charge method of cost recovery would be eliminated for future extensions.
