Price lists no longer required for telecommunications companies

The commission filed its Order Amending, Adopting and Repealing Rules Permanently, relating to eliminating the requirement that telecommunications companies file price lists with the Code Reviser on March 27, 2007. It will be effective on or about April 27, 2007.

Some changes made by the new rules include:

  • Instead of using price lists, companies will communicate with customers directly.
  • Companies will be required to withdraw existing price lists, and give customers information about ongoing rates, terms, and conditions.
  • The new law will not affect tariffs or regulatory fees.
  • Companies will still be required to continue working with commission staff on consumer complaints.

New price list filings are no longer accepted.

By June 30, 2007 companies must withdraw existing price lists or petition for a one-year extension.

Until a company withdraws its price list, the commission's old rules governing the filing of price lists may be followed as a useful guideline.
