Public Safety > Pipeline Safety > Two long-standing PSE inspection cases resolved The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission approved a settlement on October 10, 2007 between its pipeline safety program and Puget Sound Energy (PSE) which sets in motion actions that will resolve two long-standing investigations of the utility’s Pierce and King County gas distribution system. The three-member commission approved an agreement that commits PSE to actions that will improve its cathodic protection (steel corrosion prevention) system monitoring, its monitoring of corrosion of pipe that is exposed to air (above ground pipes) and its gas leak survey program. There will be no financial penalty. The settlement closes two inspections and audits that began in fall of 2005. For more documents associated with these cases, see link below.
