UTC intervenes in LNG proposal

The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission has given notice to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on July 6, 2006, of its intervention in a proposed liquidfied natural gas (LNG) and pipeline project. Bradwood Landing LLC and NorthernStar Energy LLC have proposed constructing and operating an LNG terminal for the Oregon side of the Columbia River directly across from Puget Island and the City of Cathlamet. The applicant proposes transporting natural gas from the LNG terminal via a 34-mile pipeline, approximately half of which will run on the Oregon side and possibly serve two industrial gas user. The UTC's interest is in the 17-mile, 30-inch pipeline that will run from under the Columbia River through Cowlitz County before connecting with Williams Gas pipeline.
